Who's rapping on my hatch?
Get in here...on the double!

Welcome to my piece of Marine Corps history.

As many Marines before me, my career started with those yellow footprints painted on the deck of MCRD San Diego, April 1st, 1965. Eleven weeks of recruit training later...I had been promoted to the rank of PFC and had earned the title of United States Marine! An additional five weeks of infantry training at MCB Camp Pendleton and sixteen weeks of radio/telegraph school at MCRD San Diego later,
I was now ready for the Fleet Marine Force.

On April 15, 1966 I landed in Viet Nam with orders to report to Hq Btry 12th Marine Regiment. A few months later, I found myself at Cam Lo. From there Gio Linh, Dong Ha, Quang Tri, Phu Bai, and places in between. My tour consisted of radio watch, patrols, listening posts, F/O teams, convoys, and other duties that Marines are charged. I had taken part in 33 operations throughout I Corps for 3rdMarDiv forces. On December 27, 1967 I departed Viet Nam with the rank of CPL and holding orders for the 2ndMarDiv.

Upon arrival to Okinawa a request was made by a friendly GySgt for Marines of my MOS to extend their overseas tour for one year at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan... my orders were modified to report to the 1st Marine Air Wing, FMF, 9th MAB for duty. I reported to MAG-15 on December 29, 1967. Upon joining MABS-15, I was given the Radio/Maint NCO duties. In April of 1968, I was promoted to the rank of SGT, extended my enlistment from 4 to 6 years, and remained on station an additional year. I served a tour as MAG-15 "Sgt of the Guard" and became Radio Chief of MABS-15. On December 10, 1969, with two years on station,
I departed Japan with rotation orders to CONUS.

On December 24, 1969 I reported to MCAS Yuma, Arizona for duty with MACS-1, MAG-38, 3rdMAW, FMF. I assumed duties consisting of "Acting" Radio Chief, Embarkation NCO, and Senior Radio Operator.

On April 21, 1971 with over six years active duty...a "Sergeant of Marines"...I ended my Marine Corps career with an Honorable Discharge.
