Glen Pfeifer was appointed to the Toledo Police Department, July 16, 1940; he graduated in the 2nd class of the Toledo Police Academy.

On May 1, 1957, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and worked in the Detective Bureau. In April of 1963, he was appointed commander of the Vice Squad, a position which he held until 1971.

On November 30, 1981, he retired from the Toledo Police Department.

At the time he was assigned to the Vice Squad, there wasn't any special unit for dignitary protection, so the Vice Squad was assigned that duty.
