The Kaylee Guestbook

Wednesday, September 1, 1999

Monday was a tough night.  Little sleep for any of us. I walked around the room with Kaylee, but I didn't know any good kids' songs.  So she fell asleep to Born to Run.  Is "It's a death trap, a suicide rap" right for those formative years?

But last night was great. Kaylee slept all evening and mostly through the night.  She flops around the bed like John Belushi, and it was fun to watch her.  We got some sleep.

She's getting attached to us, especially Cindy.  We made a get-out-of-Dodge six-hour run out of Yueyang and landed this evening at the palatial Grand Sun City Hotel.  For many of us, it'll mean the first shower in days.

We sat in this big ballroom of a restaurant.  Kaylee sat in Cindy's lap and flung large amounts of food all around the joint.  Both were wearing most of seven courses.

We gave Kaylee a bath today.  She stood on the counter around the sink, grabbed a towel bar like a gymnast, and laughed like hell when I made her do an Elvis imitation.

We have her passport. We're moving on tomorrow. We hit Guanzhou, and the worst will be behind us.
