Monday, August 30, 1999 We got her. At about 10 am, Kaylee came screaming into our lives. We were waiting at the Office of Civic Affairs for about an hour. Then suddenly, eleven women with eleven babies. Our guide tried to sort out the chaos. First thing he said was, "John and Cynthia Lammers, this is your daughter." It was 100 degrees in the room, it was jammed, flash bulbs going off, mothers reaching toward nannies. Kaylee made a racket. She's teething and she's not happy. Halfway through our 6-hour bus trip to Yueyang we discovered this. She's been great since. She's sleeping now next to Cindy. Kaylee's feisty and intense, with eyes that stare right into yours. By the way, we changed her diaper in a restaurant and on a bus. The honeymoon is over. Next: Day 5: Yueyang Pavillion |
