China Southern starts our flight with sushi at 7 a.m. We skip that and settle
for the Haagen-Daz for dessert. We flew up the West Coast, over Alaska, across
the Bering Sea. A little monitor lets us count off the miles and follow the
plane.
Somewhere around 2 p.m. Syracuse time we cross the International Date Line. That
means it's now tomorrow, or yesterday. This is the kind of thing Kaylee will
know when she's 6.
Next: Day 3: Changsha
